The Blogging Phenomenon
April 7, 2008 – 1:34 pmBlogging as a writing medium is more personal and intimate, customized to your professional interests and requirements. Blogging is a lightweight web publishing model which provides an extremely low obstacle to entry, useful syndication and aggregation behavior, an easy to comprehend structure and decentralized production of a rich information network. Semantic blogging builds upon the accomplishment and clear network value of blogging by accumulation of additional items collected over the blog channels. This all may sound complicated but blogging is as easy as pie. There are a small number of blogging platforms to choose from, the current industry leaders are Blogger, WordPress and MoveableType.
Blogging is a long-term strategy with no good shortcuts. As some people caution, “don’t just go into blogging for the money but because you have enthusiasm.” Without passion for the topic, the blog won’t constantly pull an audience. Blogging is a key new social, political, and economic phenomenon. It is a new and remarkable example of the theory that knowledge is widely dispersed among people and that the test to society is to generate mechanisms for pooling that information. Blogging is considerably tamer (politics and profanity wise) than news groups as well, which is one of their appeals, at least to some, and allows blogs to be more “entertaining” than other internet web sites.
