Orchids have a reputation of being hard to keep, but the truth is that there are many orchid species that are very easy to care for and that requires only a minimal amount of pampering. Over the years, professional orchid growers have also gathered a rich profusion of orchid care tips that can now be enjoyed by orchid amateurs as well. When you bring home a new orchid, you should always do an online search – you might very well stumble over an invaluable orchid care tip regarding that specific species.
When it comes to Dendrobium orchid care, you should for instance always place your plant in a spot where it will get plenty of sun during the morning and afternoon. The strong mid-day sun can however injure the leaves by scorching them and you should therefore not expose your Dendrobium orchid to this type of light. When it comes to Phalaenopsis orchid care, it is a good idea to give your orchid a fertilizer high in nitrogen 12 months of the year. Over feeding will however harm the orchid and it is important to dilute the fertilizer well before serving it. You should also ideally divide the fertilizer into many smaller servings instead of giving your orchid one big serving once a month. This will more accurately mimic the natural conditions where the wild Phalaenopsis orchids grow.
